Based on our preliminary results and the enthusiasm generated by our veteran participants, the research team and the treatment team from Columbia University Irving Medical Center, we are extremely optimistic that equine assisted therapy (EAT-PTSD) will prove to be a safe and promising treatment for veterans with PTSD.
We intend to publish our treatment manual and believe other equine therapy programs will adopt and replicate our findings. It is our hope to disseminate the protocol through training facilities and pilot programs throughout the country.
